Diabetes up 20% in Australia

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Here are some even more unfortunate statistics as apparently diabetes diagnosis in hospitals have gone up 20% between 2000 and 2004:

“Between the years 2000 and 2004, hospital admissions for diabetes were up by 20 percent, according to the report released Wednesday by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.”

They make an interesting connection between diabetes and the remoteness of some of the residents. But taking a look at the situation it may be likely those in extremely remote regions don’t have access to the best or freshest food and don’t maintain the best eating habits.

You can find more info regarding the rise of diabetes in australia here.

As for SugarStats itself progression and development is going good as we are still working to finish the feature set for our 1.0 launch. Once they are implemented we will begin more extensive private testing before launch. We’ve also got some great graphing features in place that gives very clear and simple view from the statistics, we think you’ll like those the most.

If you are interesting in beta testing SugarStats you are more than welcome to. We select testers from our mailinglist which you can easily sign up for on the homepage.
