A HbA1c to mg/dL blood sugar conversion tool
Posted on: Thursday, February 15th, 2007 at 4:18 pmI found a nifty little website where you can convert your HbA1c levels to what you’re equivalent average blood glucose level would be in the same time period.
For example: An HbA1c level of 6% would be like having an average 114 mg/dL glucose reading. 8% would be like having an average 180 mg/dL glucose reading.
This will be quite a handy tool especially to help you with keep up with your targets and goals.

Be careful with these values, as they are not entirely accurate for NEWER meters. Older meters, which measured glucose values in whole blood, give slightly lower results… This hba1c converter works with the old meters
Newer meters, like my Freestyle Flash, give you a Plasma Equivalent blood sugar reading. This means that it is synchronized with the way that the lab measures blood sugar and the way HBA1c is reported. Therefore, you should try this chart here:
http://www.geocities.com/diabeteschart/bloodsugarchart.html
On this chart, a reading of 6.0 correlates to a sugar of 136 and a reading of 8.0 correlates to a reading of 207.
A small difference, but very relevant nonetheless
