Avandia, Actos, the FDA and Diabetics
Posted on: Sunday, July 29th, 2007 at 8:30 amFriday morning, diabetics of the world woke up to an update about the situation with Avandia, a drug manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline to help in the treatment of type 2 diabetes:
“Patients who take Avandia… are far more likely to suffer and die from heart problems than those who take Actos, a similar pill made by Takeda, according to FDA reviewers.Avandia is particularly dangerous to patients who also take insulin. By contrast, Actos can be taken safely with insulin, according to the review.”
